‘Full-time COs for all municipalities in 6 months’

Deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza said that the government will ensure that all municipalities get full-time chief officers within the next six months. He made the statement while speaking as the chief guest after laying the foundation stone for the commercial complex of the Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) at Quepem recently.

D'Souza, who is the urban development minister, admitted that municipal councils face difficulties due to non-posting of full-time chief officers. He attributed the delay to procedures that need to be followed during recruitment and also to the fact that promotions had not taken place. He said the commercial complex of the Quepem Municipal Council being built at an estimated cost of 51.82 lakh by the council through the funds allocated under the golden jubilee celebrations, would be completed in six months.
