The Indo German Friendship Society of Goa ( IGSG) is dedicated to maintain close ties of friendship between Goa, Germany, German speaking countries and regions. December 9 to 16, 2012 will see a week of interesting German culture in Goa.
December 9, 2012 8.30am
Indo German Goa – Cycling in Panjim Route will start at Campal Ground and end at Azad Maidan ( via Dona Paula). An early morning practice for w a r m up is on the cards, previous registration needed.. 12.30pm – Inaugural Lunch of German Cultural Week Goa at ‘ Casa Miguel Vicente d’Abreu’, Panjim. Built in the 19th century, every stone of this Pombaline Portuguese house tells a fascinating story of its colonial past. Miguel Vicente de Abreu ( 1827 – 1883) was a Goan intellectual and Provincial Associate of the Royal Academy of Science of Lisbon.

Notable Goans: the activity of Dr Julião Menezes in Germany between 1920 and 1938 at Club Vasco da Gama, Opp.Municipal Garden, Panjim. Dr Julião Menezes was a significant and serious contributor to Goan political thought and activism.

IGSG seeks answers on issues concerning pollution in Goa from the Chairman of Goa State Pollution Control Board ( GSPCB). – A round table with Germans, Goans and Jose Noronha, Chairman of GSPCB. At the end of the meeting there will be an informal chat with newsmen. Venue: Goa State Pollution Control Board, 1st Floor, Dempo Tower, EDC Patto Plaza, Panjim.

A film on Pina Bausch Castelo Vermelho, at Art Chamber, Gaur a v a d d o , Ca l angute . Phi l ippine Pina Bausch ( 27 July 1940 – 30 June 2009) was a German performer of modern dance, choreographer, dance teacher and ballet director. With her unique style, a blend of movements, sounds and prominent stage sets, and with her elaborate cooperation with performers during the composition of a piece ( a style now known as Tanz theater), she became a leading influence since the 1970s in the world of modern dance.

Visit to the factory of German Company Siemens – Energy Automation Division, followed by a lunch. The Energy Automation factory in Goa is the first such factory outside Europe and third in the Siemens World, after Germany and United Kingdom.

Birds observation in Goa at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, in collaboration with The Indian Bird Conservation Network ( IBCN).

The traditional ‘ Oktoberfest’ at Club Vasco da Gama, opposite Municipal Garden, Panjim, as a closing highlight of the German Cultural week. German beer and authentic German food made by German caterers: ‘ Rindergulasch’ ( beef goulash), ‘ Frikadellen’ ( German meatballs), Bretzel, ‘ Currywurst’, ‘ Kartoffelsalat’ ( potato salad), ‘ Sauerkraut’ ( pickled cabbage), German pastry: ‘ Käsekuchen’, ‘ Apfelstrudel’, Christmas cake ‘ Stollen’, German Christmas cookies and much more, Besides, there will be Goan food as well, as also a quiz with lots of interesting prizes.
