Goa lift tennis ball cricket title

Goa lifted the 10th All India Inter-Zonal Tennis Ball Cricket Championships for men organised by Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association and Tennis Ball Cricket Federation in association with SAG at PJN practice grounds, Fatorda, Margao.

Goa defeated Madhya Bharath in the final. Electing to bat first, Madhya Bharath were bowled out for a mere 38 in 7 overs. For Goa, Chandan Dongrekar claimed 3 wickets to restrict their opponents.

In reply, Goa scored the required runs in 5.5 overs as Saiesh Shirgaokar led the chase scoring 18 runs for the hosts.

Earlier, Goa defeated Jharkhand and Madhya Bharat won against Andhra Pradesh in the semi-finals. Later, Jharkhand defeated AP to clinch the 3rd place.

Saiesh of Goa bagged best batsman award while Patidar of MB won the best bowler prize.

Altogether 16 state/unit teams took part in the championships which was played on league cum knock-out basis.

Mr Benjamin Silva, MLA was the chief guest for the prize distribution function. Also present were Mr Tausif Lari, newly elected secretary general of TBCFI, Mr Gurudas Vernekar, Nehru stadium manager, Mr Kanta Naik, president, GTBCA, Mr Ropesh V Naik, secretary, GTBCA, Mr Manzoor Beig and Gynanvel, vice-president, TBCFI.
