Goa trailed by 220 runs with nine wickets remaining against Himachal Pradesh after stumps were drawn at the end of day- two in Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match at DIET ground, Porvorim, Sunday.
Earlier, resuming at 190/ 5, HP amassed 338 runs in 126 overs. Overnight batsman Amit Kumar scored 86 including 14 fours at a strike rate of 40 before being caught by Desai off the bowling of Gadekar. Mukesh Sharma tallied 73 which featured eight hits to the fence and one over it. His stay at the crease came to an end when he was caught by Ravikant Shukla off Bandekar’s bowling.
R Dhawan lbw 37, A Bhalaik 1, Karanveer Singh not out 39, Rahul Singh 47 and VS Malik 8 were the other scorers.
For Goa, debutant MG Gawas put up an impressive performance and picked up four wickets for 109 runs.
Skipper Jakati took three while RJ Pinto, SS Bandekar and HH Gadekar and bagged one each.
In reply, Goa scored 118 with Sagun Kamat being the lone casualty for the hosts. He scored 22 runs before being trapped legbefore Malik. Former skipper Swapnil Asnodkar piled up 64 laced with eight fours. Amogh Desai kept him company at stumps with 31 runs including five fours. [H]
