Goa Velha, Margao SC share spoils

Goa Velha Sports Club played their hearts out to hold Margao Sports Club to a goalless draw in the GFA’s Professional League match played at Duler grounds, here on Tuesday.
Both the sides playing their 12th league match played attacking soccer right from the start.
After Tuesday’s outing Margao stand on 15 points, while Goa Velha, who are fighting relegation, have five points.
Goa Velha had the first look at the Margao goal early in the match where Nestor Dias moved up the right flank and sent a perfect cross to Melroy D’Silva, whose header sailed inches over the cross piece.
Margao had two scoring opportunities but Gammy Costa failed to keep cool shooting wide from handshaking distance.
The best of the chance for Goa Velha came three minutes before the breather, as Nestor flashed the ball at the far end to Chatur Naik, who in turn relayed the ball to Saprem Diukar. But before he could get to the ball central defender Francisco Calado came with a superb clearance.
On crossing over it was the heroics from Goa Velha keeper Siddesh Morje, who brought at least four saves, to deny Gammy Costa and Anthony Dias twice each.
At the other end keeper Jovial Coutinho came to Margao side rescue twice to stop Saprem Diukar from scoring. [NT]
