Goan divers sweep medals at NSG


Goa’s ace divers brought laurels to the state by winning 1 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 58th National School Games (NSG) which were held recently in Pune.
Genevieve D’Costa, a student of The Green Rosary High School won a gold medal in highboard diving whereas she bagged a silver medal in 3m springboard and a bronze in 1m springboard diving in under 17 girls event.
Aalhad Vivek Chati, a student of The Rosary High School, Miramar, made a hat-trick of silver medals in 3mt spring board, 1m springboard and highboard diving in under 17 boys event.
The competition was very tough in highboard diving and he missed his gold medal by merely 10 points but consistency and confidence took him to success.
Nikhil Narayan Nagvekar, a student of Mushtifund High School, also gave his best by winning 2 silver medals in 3m springboard and 1mt springboard diving events in under 14 boys group.
Aniruddh Bhat also hogged the limelight by winning a bronze medal in 1m springboard diving in under 14 boys group.
Shivani Kadam gave her best and secured 4th position in 1m springboard diving in under 17 girls event.
