Goan staff ill-treated in casinos: MLA

Accusing casinos of “harassing” the youth employed with them, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said there has been “little improvement in the working of these casinos.”
Addressing a press conference at his office in Porvorim, Khaunte said: “I had raised this issue during the budget assembly session. Despite this, there is no improvement in working style of these casinos. These casinos employ more non-Goans and the Goan youth they have employed are getting step-motherly treatment.”
Khaunte claimed that one casino in his constituency had terminated the services of eight employees without proper reason.
“The Goan boys terminated should be re-employed along with back wages within four days, else the casino will face the consequences,” warned Khaunte. [H]
