Goulys gathered in Panjim. Renowned artist Harshada Kerkar (left) with the group of Goulys at Maria Bernadette Gomes' exhibition of paintings at the Kala Academy in Panjim. These people could well be transported to a different, urban ambience for the moment, but the innocence in their faces has not changed its habitat. Nearly 25 years ago, I had visited such a Gouly hamlet in the hills of Sattari. In a largish hut, man, woman and child shared half of the dwelling quarters with their goats and cattle. How the citybreds would react to the surroundings, I wouldn't know. But that's stark reality. Probably, the space sharing is still in place out there till date. (Photo Courtesy By Joel D'souza)
