Government collects Rs 137cr stamp duty
Out of 290 crore revenue expected from the renewal of mining leases, the state government collected only 137 crore as six mining companies did not pay the stamp duty for renewal of mining lease. March 7 was the last to pay the stamp duty for renewal.
Speaking to TOI, assistant director of mines and geology Parag Nagarsekar said the department has received 137 crore from 10 mining companies. The government had asked 16 mining companies to pay stamp duty for renewal of their mining leases.
If the remaining mining companies would have paid the stamp duty for renewal of mining leases, it would have added revenue of Rs 153 crore, officials said. [TOI]
