Govt College Marcel, Sanquelim ranked in India’s best 200

Panjim: The two government-run colleges in Arts, Commerce and Science, Marcel and Sanquelim have been ranked amongst the best 200 colleges in the country on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 2020.

While the Government College Marcel is ranked in the ‘Rank Band’ 101-150 in India, the Government College Sanquelim is in the Rank Band 151-200.

Further, St Xavier’s College Mapusa is ranked in the Rank Band 101-150, the highest ranking achieved among the aided-colleges in the State.

The Dhempe College of Arts and Science at Miramar and Ponda Education Society-Ravi Naik College of Arts and Science, are ranked in the ‘Rank Band’ 151-200.

Earlier in the month, NIRF ranking announced by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Goa University had retained a spot in the 100 best universities. The Varsity jumped to 81st rank from the 93rd rank it had obtained in 2019.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa, which was ranked 87th in 2019, has jumped to 77th position in the best 100 engineering colleges in the country.

Goa College of Pharmacy slipped to 47th position from 43rd amongst best pharmacy colleges. Goa Institute of Management, Sanquelim ranks 48th in the category of best management colleges.

NIRF rankings are given with the parameters broadly covering teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes and outreach and Inclusivity and perception. [H]
