Govt favours more freedom to schools

 

Asserting that the government would free schools from the clutches of Education department’s paper work, Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar has said his government would address all problems concerning educational institutions within the next 4-6 months.
 “If we want to give good education and put education in the practical domain of the people, the education department should free itself from the clutches of paper work. The schools should be totally free. I have accepted and conceded the request on the NOCs. NOCs have become now become a business. Instead of one year, schools will be given NOCs for 10 years”, he said, while addressing the All Goa Educational Institutions’ Day of the Archdiocesan Board of Education at the Ravindra bhavan.
Parrikar said educational institutions should churn out individuals with an yearning to acquire knowledge and who will stand up against injustices and honest in admitting mistakes. He said educational institutions should join hands with the government to make Goa a golden state.
While complimenting the Archdiocesan Board of Education for rendering yeoman service in the field of education, Parrikar appealed to the Board to set up educational facilities for special children.
In his address, Archbishop, Filipe Neri Ferrao urged the teachers and management of the educational institutions to rededicate themselves to face the future challenges in the field of education. He said that education is the best gift the Church is offering to the people of Goa.
The Archbishop appreciated Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for taking keen interest and for making efforts for improving the quality of education by introducing various schemes. He thanked him for giving a patient hearing to members of the Archdiocesan Board of Education whenever approached with various issues related to education and smooth functioning of its institutions.
Later, the Archbishop and the Chief Minister jointly felicitated members of the educational institutions run by the Archdiocesan Board of Education. [H]
