Govt, GCCI moot ‘logistics hub’ in state


 The Goa industry is lobbying with the state government to create a logistics hub in the state which can cater not only to Goa but also to the neighbouring regions of southern Maharashtra and north Karnataka.
A delegation of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Gconsisting of its president Manguirish Pai Raikar, co-chairman of GCCI logistics committee Chandrakant Gawas, members Dean Menezes, Sandip Sood and R S Kamat called on industries minister Mahadev Naik on Saturday and submitted to him a presentation on logistics. They also interacted with Parimal Rai, principal secretary, industries, during this visit. Raikar said that the minister has asked GCCI to prepare a roadmap with specific proposals for development of logistics in Goa .
"GCCI feels that Goa has got the potential to emerge as a good logistics hub in west India and can cater not only to Goa but also to large parts of southern Maharashtra and northern Karnataka" Raikar said.
He said that though the medium and small scale industries recognize logistics as an industrial activity, the state has to grant recognition and give due importance to this activity. [TOI]
