Govt making efforts to provide basic public facilities: Arlekar


 The Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly, Mr Rajendra Arlekar, laid the foundation stone for the construction of a community hall, under MP Local Area Development fund, in the presence of North Goa MP, Mr Shripad Naik at Bondalwada, Pernem, on Friday.
The hall will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh and is expected to be completed within a year.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Arlekar said that it is the government’s endeavour to provide all basic needs like water and power supply, health, education and other requirements of people in the state.
He lauded the efforts of Mr Shripad Naik, North Goa MP, for taking up people-oriented developmental projects like construction of community halls, crematoriums, play grounds, school buildings, library buildings, etc, during his tenure.
Mr Naik, MP, said that about 300 developmental projects have been taken up in North Goa under MP Local Area Development scheme during the last 15 years and sought cooperation from the people in this regard. He said construction of the community hall at Bondalwada, Pernem was a long pending demand of the people.
Mr Vishram Gadekar, councillor and Mr Ramchandra Parsekar, president of Mahapurush Saunstha also spoke on the occasion. Mr Gajanan Sawaldessai, councillor, Ms Rajeshri Haldankar, Ms Vishakha Gadekar, Kamulkar and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. Mr Anant Bandodkar proposed the vote of thanks. [NT]
