Govt plans online promotion of monsoon tourism

 

 In a bid to tap foreign markets for promoting monsoon tourism, Goa government is contemplating advertisements in foreign print and electronic media to attract tourists to the State.
Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar told the State Legislative Assembly that government is strengthening its campaign to woo tourists during the monsoon season and has planned marketing through websites, social networking sites and at travel marts as well. 
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation has organized various special discount tour and holiday packages, he said, responding to a question by Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo. 
Parulekar said that Tourism Department will also provide financial and artistic support to organizations or associations to hold local festivals such as Bonderam, Sao Joao, Sangod, Ganesh Chaturthi, Narkasur competitions among others. 
“Marketing of Goa will be done through websites, social media such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, etc. Domestic road shows in various States (of India) are also being planned,” he said. 
Promotion of Goa in the monsoon was already initiated by the government a couple of years ago.  
The Tourism Department is also making attempts to keep away negative publicity of Goa and for this, Parulekar said, a Public Relation Agency will be appointed to give positive publicity within India and abroad through the media. The department has been adapting to various marketing strategies to promote Goa all round the year. [H]
