Govt to set up special CBI Court
To reduce pendency of cases and expedite the corruption trial, the state government has decided to set up an independent special Central Bureau of Investigation Court in Goa. About 70 cases are presently pending before both district courts. A proposal placed before the Cabinet for approval has mentioned the creation of 10 posts including that of judge and estimated the total cost of around Rs 65 lakh. As per the directions of the Centre, expenditure on the court will have to be borne by the state, which will subsequently be reimbursed by the Centre.
“The government after considering the importance of speedy disposal of the cases and as per the directives of the Government of India and Supreme Court has decided to establish an independent special CBI Court in Goa,” the law department said. [H]
