How To Tell If A Chicken Is Cooked
There's nothing better than a perfectly roasted chicken, and knowing when it's cooked is key. True, there are always timing guidelines, but chickens, and ovens for that matter, vary greatly. So here's VideoJug's short guide to checking to see if your chicken ready to carve.
When you feel the cooking time is nearly up take the bird out of the oven where you can get a good look at it. With a sharp knife cut down into the joint between the thigh and the breast. The chicken's juices will run out – these should be clear. Cut right down into the flesh of the joint, if you see any pink, put the chicken back in the oven and check again in 15 minutes. Eating undone chicken can make you very ill – it's not something you want to risk. If the leg is easily falling away, and the flesh is white the chicken is done. Remove it from the oven tray and level to settle for 10-20 minutes before carving.
