Drishti Special Response Services Pvt Ltd gets its first ISO certificate from RINA
Drishti is the first water rescue service in India to get the ISO certificate

Goa, 16th July, 2010: Drishti Special Response Services receives an ISO Certificate by RINA (A 150 year old global organization in the field of certification) in Goa. Drishti known for saving lives across the shores was awarded the ISO certificate in the presence of Shri. Digambar Kamat, Honorable Chief Minister, Govt. of Goa and MD of RINA Shri. Nilkant Halarnkar.

In order to procure the certificate, the company’s top management had set an entirely new quality management system at all levels, departments and various functions of the organisation. This involved charting out the mission, vision and organizational goals at the management level and defining ‘Quality’ objectives for the organization. An internal audit was then conducted to review the implementation of quality management systems across the company. On achieving satisfactory results the company then applied for an external ISO 9001:2008 certification from RINA.

According to Ankit Somani, Vice President Drishti Group, “At Drishti, we are serious about saving lives. Life guarding is a professional business and requires the best equipments and a disciplined team. Surf Life Saving Goa has performed exceedingly well and been able to reduce casualties by 99% in beaches it guards. This is a safety commitment we promise to keep working at.”

According to Mr. V.K. Kanwar, Chief operations officer, Drishti Group, “Drishti Special Response Services has always aimed at providing best services to its customers. Eight days of audit was conducted in great detail of each of our processes, whereby knowledge and actual practice of established system procedures was evaluated by the third party. RINA was truly impressed with the level of services and the quality that we were offering our customers and decided to award the ISO 9001:2008 certificate.”

Drishti Special Response Services (DSRS) and the sister concerns have been actively assisting the State Governments of Maharashtra and Goa with their water rescue expertise. The company has been training and hiring equipment for the Disaster and Flood control department of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. The company has already trained personnel of the fire department of Mumbai.

Drishti Special Response Services has implemented and currently manages Surf Life Saving Goa, a professional lifeguard service. Currently they cover over 80 km of beach stretch in Goa and covered all 105 kms of Goa since 2010. Since its implementation in October 2008, DSRS has been involved in over 310 successful rescue operations.

The company follows the international standards in safety operations and comprises a rescue team of over 460 trained members. They have been trained by authorized trainers from international organisations like International Lifesaving Society, International Rescue Instructors Association, RIG Systems and Surf Life Saving Australia.
