Illegal gun used to shoot Siolim panch: Police
Police investigating the Siolim panch shooting case have said that the gun used in the attack was without licence and was purchased by the accused from a Bihari, six years ago.
Sodiem-Siolim panch Amey Harmalkar, 23, was shot at by Tukaram Khorjuvenkar and Sachin Khorjuvenkar from Camurlim on Sunday night. Harmalkar was at Camurlim with his friend Sachin Hirawale at the time of incident. There were no previous offences booked against the accused duo, while the panch member was booked previously in many cases of assault.
Police sources said that during the incident both the groups were under the influence of alcohol which may have triggered the episode. Harmalkar, has bullet injuries on his hand and abdomen. Police said there was a single bullet in the gun used to fire at Harmalkar. "Both the injuries were of the same bullet, it was a single shot," a police source said.
"The gun was without licence and the duo will further be booked under the Arms Act," police sources said. [TOI]
