India in chase of seeds; Tanzania flowers.

Vasco: India probables for the AFC Cup and the U-17 World Cup showed they have a long way to go as they wilted under the pressure from Tanzania to lose 1-3 in the AIFF U-16 Youth Cup at Tilak maidan, Vasco on Tuesday.
In a match where the visitors enjoyed total dominance, the lads from India appeared lost in the European approach that they seem to being trained in. Tanzania led 2-1 during the breather.
India were the first to have a try at Tanzania citadel in the seventh minute when Khumantem Meetei saw his well directed shot to the right corner of the Tanzanian goal well saved by their keeper Ramadhani Kabwili. Thereafter, the story literally was from Tanzania.
Tanzania began scoring when the game was around twenty minutes old. Maziku Ngawembele after having got the ball from a soft header on top of the Indian box, moved forward and nicely drove a grounder that brooked no response from the Indian goalkeeper.
Tanzania surged ahead through a self goal. Such things are expected in U-16 tournaments .Mohammed Sarif khan in his attempt to intercept a Tanzanian cross into the box tapped the ball past his own goalkeeper for the second goal of the day.
Just like India fumbled, Tanzania fumbled too and India managed to pull one goal and come back into the game. Aniket Jadhav , after making a run through the right flank crossed the ball in. The Tanzian goalkeeper let the ball slip from his grasp. The ball moved towards Komal Thatlal who coolly slotted in for India’s first and only goal of the match.
Unlike the boys from Tanzania , who weaved the ball through the flanks as well as the centre, India operated from the two flanks and relied on crossing the ball in from either the left or the right. There was no game plan to break the opponent’s defense through the centre.
From the way the manner the two teams played it was evident that experience comes through practice. Both struggled to accurately get the ball under control but the Indians were pretty far behind when it came to display of skill.
India drew their first game and have lost their second. They play USA in their third.
Boris Thangjam was one Indian defender who held promise of maturing well before the two competions India have to start begins. Komal Thatal showed similar promise in the midfield. Despite letting in three goals- Mohammad Nawaz was not out of place in the goal. There was no error of judgment on his part in the three goals conceded by India.
In another match later in the evening, Korea Republic registered a 3-0 over Malaysia. The winners led 2-0 at half-time.
The first goal came in the 24th minute when Kim Chaewoon followed it inside the box, sidestepped his maker and placed it in. The lead was doubled ten minutes later by Park Jeongin in the 34th minute.
Changing over, the match was mainly confined to the midfield. The easiest chace fell to Korea’s Cheon Seonghoon in injury time but with only the rival Goalkepeer to beat he hit the post, and even blasted it into the post off the rebound.
Barely a minute later, Korea scored their third goal — Jeon Wooram hitting the target. [NT]
