Mr Shailendra Singh, managing director of Percept said that the Goa was chosen as the venue for the reason that it represents music, harmony and peace and also because the Sunburn Festival that was launched on Goan soil has today a global standing, giving credence to the magic of Goa.
He lamented, “Why is it that we do not find big musicians like Bryan Adams here on Indian soil? Why do we not produce Indian musicians who would tour the global stage? It is only a matter of enforcing self belief and being backed by the proper packaging and platform.”
He went on to say, “Windsong is the most appropriate platform to boost Indian musicians with its Plugged and Unplugged stages, putting up live performances in a variety of genres such as Folk, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Blues, and Soul music.” The festival also boasts of state of the art technology and effects to enhance the artistes’ performances.
A festival of this scale promises to become a social event, bringing together our vast numbers of young people, enabling them to enjoy good music and comradery. The music itself has the potential to reveal stories of love, angst, loss, happiness; emotions anybody can identify with. [NT]
