Isabel’s Play “Sandals on the Doorstep

A scene from the entertaining English play "Sandals on the Doorstep", written by playwright Isabel Santa Rita Vas, presented by The Mustard Seed Art Company at the Kala Academy auditorium on December 4, 2012. The play centres around the times of violence we find around us increasingly nowadays. All the action is in a police station, following the arrest of 18-year-old Elton on the charge of having killed his doting grandmother, who helped bring him up when his mother died and his father proceeded to England for employment. The portrayals are excellent. I liked the acting of England-returned Olavo. And there was Nilesh with his songs and music besides ever so friendly Kamini, elderly neighbour Imran, young Police constable Sarita, not forgetting Pascuela, who visits the Police station every Friday, creating as much commotion as she can.
The play, dealing with peace and violence, will be repeated at the Ravinda Hall in Maragao, on 6th December at 7.30 pm. Friends in South Goa, please come for the show and cheer up the youthful amateur band of actors. (Photo Courtesy By Joel D'souza)
