ITI trainee dies in fatal mishap at Undir
Chandresh Damodar Pokle, a 17-year-old ITI ( Industrial training institute) trainee from Undir-Bandora in Ponda taluka was knocked down to death by a speeding bus at his village, Undir, on Saturday evening.
Ponda police said the minor boy was proceeding to Ponda by a motorcycle while the bus, which ferries the MRF factory's Usgao staff, was on its way to Undir to drop the factory personnel. The bus was being driven at speed and knocked down the trainee.
Police sources said the minor was riding a motorcycle, however, they were not aware whether the trainee had a license or not. Ponda DySP Dinraj Govekar was not available for comment.
The police have retrieved the body of the deceased and preserved it in the mortuary of the Goa medical college (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim, for an autopsy to be conducted on Sunday.
The police have registered an offence against the bus driver, Rama Parsekar, 51, also a resident of the same village under Sections 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 304-A (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police said they have arrested the driver of the bus. Ponda PSI Rahul Dhamsekar is investigating the case. [TOI]
