Javed bags National FMSCI award
Sirvodem-Navelim based MRF National Supercross champion, Javed Shaikh disclosed on Wednesday that his brother, on his behalf, will receive the National FMSCI award at a ceremony to be held in Chennai and that he could not attend the function due to technical reasons.
The awards ceremony was scheduled in Chennai on Wednesday itself and organised to felicitate the Goan rider for his outstanding achievement in motocross in 2012.
Asked what was the main intention of holding today’s press conference, Javed replied that he wanted to announce his selection for the FMSCI award, which he felt was a great honour for Goa.
The 25-year-old Javed disclosed that he would perform better if he were to get a new bike as his KTM 250cc bike had become quite old and that government’s assistance would definitely be welcome.
Javed disclosed that the SAG and the government has helped him and encouraged him in his endeavour to do better. Even the SAG has acknowledged his achievements.
Javed also thanked a sponsor named Rosario for providing a 6,000 sq-mt track for practicing at Chandor, adding further that a request has been made with the government to provide the necessary track for such purposes.
The aspirant has come a long way in establishing himself as Goa’s champion rider and has kept at bay the likes of Allen Sequeira in 2012, who in fact has been selected for the Special Award by Geno, which was quite surprising considering the fact that Javed has outclassed him.
In fact, Javed, besides being crowed the MRF National Supercross champion has won the Gulf Oil Mangalore all India trophy and added to his trophy trove the winners cup at Ghadinglaj, Bangalore and Pune, which is truly commendable.
Others who attended this press conference were Irfan Sheikh, Shakil Ahmed and Ibrahim Thaker. [NT]
