Jenas treble fires Cortalim in quarters

Raia: Cortalim Villagers and SWA defeated SC Davorlim 5-1 to enter the quarter- finals of the 46th Custodio Memorial football tournament, organised by Raia Sporting football and played at Raia Panchayat ground, on Sunday .Cortalim U-20 Jenas Vaz scored a hat-trick and was instrumental in the other two goals. The lad was outstanding in all departments of the game.Cortalim Villagers’ first chance fell to Jenas Vaz in the third minute and the youngster kept his composure in front of the goal as he coolly placed the ball past the onrushing keeper.At the other end, Davorlim’s Joel Colaco tried a left footer from distance but Cortalim keeper Clive Lucas pulled of a stunning save to keep his team ahead in the game.
Cortalim inflated the lead through Estevan Mendes in the 13th minute.Rizvan Gama, the Cortalim defender, blocked Davorlim’s Clifton Rebello’s move in the 15th minute.Cortalim should have found the ball at the back of Davorlim nets, but Jenas shot wide from close range.Davorlim nearly pulled a goal back in the 26th minute but Selwyn Miranda’s diving header off Paxton Gomes cross narrowly missed the target.At the half-hour mark Jenas missed two sitters as he shot wide with only keeper at his mercy and minutes later he shot straight to the keeper off Estan Mendes’ cross.Davorlim’s Paxton Gomes’ header missed the net of Cortalim.As the match progressed, Jenas vaz made it 3-0 for Cortalim in the 50th minute.Minutes later, Jenes took control of the ball but the latter’s move was tackled by Andrew Colaco, defender of Davorlim.Davorlim pulled a goal back through Agnelo Colaco in the 56th minute .Elvis Pereia made it 4-1 for Cortalim in the 58th minute.Jenes Vaz scored in style to make it 5-1 for Cortalim in the dying minutes of the game.
