JNNURM to grant Rs 100 cr to develop Vasco: Carlos

Vasco MLA and KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida has stated that the state government will get a grant of Rs 100 crore from Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) to develop the Vasco city by the end of next year.
“I will also see that Vasco will be free of handcarts, following the construction of the fish and the vegetable markets,” informed Almeida while addressing a press conference on Thursday, where he presented his progress card of the first year in the government.
“Once the fish market is completed, I will make provision for the fish vendors on one side and fruit vendors on the other side, while the basement will be used for parking,” he said.
“By year end, the MMC building will be renovated. There is a proposal to construct a new vegetable market which will accommodate the chicken and mutton stalls,” he added.
“Besides, work of major drain at Bela Bai and Bhute-Bhat has already been tendered and the work will start in next days. I want to retain the lake at Sasmollem-Baina by de-silting it,” said Almeida.
Almeida assured the citizens of Vasco that he will change the look of Vasco within four years by developing and beautifying it.
“The roads will last for next three years and the contractor will have to repair it at his own cost if any damage takes place,” he added. [H]
