Joggers track at Fatorda likely to be completed by April 30
The Walkers and Joggers track which has been left incomplete and laid around the periphery of outside ground of the Nehru stadium, Fatorda-Margao will be completed by April 30, which is the deadline given to the contractor.
The work on the incomplete track is expected to begin next week. It may be noted that the sports minister, Mr Ramesh Tawadkar had visited the stadium on March 13 and had inspected the track.
Upon conducting the inspection, the sports minister had summoned the contractor to Panaji. Till date nothing has been done as yet to start the work on the incomplete track.
Sources disclosed that when the contractor was summoned to Panaji he explained his difficulties to the senior officers of the sports department, adding further that the contractor was given extension to complete the work by April 30.
Sources also disclosed that the contractor was asked to provide what is called the ‘time bar chart’ to the concerned officers of the sports department. So far, this ‘time bar chart’ has not yet been provided by the contractor, sources informed, adding that in any case the contractor will have to complete the work of the joggers and walkers track by April 30.
The contractor is also reported to have told the senior officers of the sports department that he has made arrangements to procure the EPDN granules and the chemical gum to complete the work on the ‘incomplete joggers and walkers track’.
Meanwhile, the sports minister once again inspected the reconstruction work of the Nehru Stadium on Tuesday which is going according to schedule as reported by The Navhind Times earlier and that all the work is expected to be completed before the target date in view of the hosting of Lusofonia Games.
