‘Keri to have p’yat complex soon’

Keri (Sattari) Sarpanch Jivbarao Rane has stated that the village will soon have its own panchayat complex, which will include the panchayat office and other government offices.
Addressing a press conference at Valpoi, Rane also briefed reporters on other major projects that the panchayat has planned for the New Year.
“The major projects include a school complex, a mini bus-stand and a Mashan Bhoomi (cremation ground) for the village. All these projects will be undertaken by the GSIDC,” said the sarpanch.
“Besides, permission will be sought from the director of panchayats to organise a market day every Saturday,” he added.
Deputy Sarpanch Noorun Bi Karol and other Panchas Mahesh Gawas, Chandrakant Gawas and Ganu Gawas, who were present at the press conference, informed that all interior roads in Keri have been hot-mixed, while work on the water treatment plant in the village is nearing completion.
The sarpanch and panchas complained that they could not execute the proposed works on time due to shortage of funds.
They also expressed unhappiness over the inordinate delay to get approvals for other works.
“We send many resolutions and files for approval to various departments, but it takes a long time to get the file approved. The panchayat is then blamed for the delay in executing the project,” said Rane. [H]
