In the second such incident in Bardez taluka within three weeks, an unknown person tried to kidnap a 10-year-old schoolgirl while she was returning home from a school in Mapusa. According to Mapusa police, the incident took place on February 4 at about 1:20 pm, when an unknown person stopped in front of her and tried to pull her into a car. The terrified schoolgirl however managed to escape and later reported the matter to her parents.
The girl’s father filed a police complaint and Mapusa police registered a case under Sections 363, 511 and Section 8 of Goa Children Act. PSI V Chodankar is investigating. This incident bears strong similarities to an attempt to kidnap an 11-year-old schoolgirl while she was proceeding home from a school in Bardez on January 18. In both cases, the schoolgirls were walking home alone while returning from their respective schools when both of them were approached by an unknown person in a car. Both schoolgirls managed to break free and escape from the clutches of their kidnapper. [H]
