Konkan Rly counter opened at Mapusa

North Goa MP Shripad Naik inaugurated the Konkan Railway booking counter at Mapusa post office.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik stated that the Konkan Railway has opened the booking counter to provide services to the people of Bardez taluka.
“The residents of Bardez taluka were compelled to go either to Panjim or Tivim Railway station to book railway tickets, thereby wasting their precious time. The Konkan Railway has provided this booking service at Mapusa at my request,” stated Naik.
“The counter will be operated by the post office staff during office hours presently. I will request the Konkan railway authorities to depute its staff to operate the counter,” added Naik.
Deputy Chief Minster Francis D’Souza at the outset expressed resentment for having not being officially invited by the Konkan Railway. However to comply with the request of the officials of the post office, he attended the inaugural function.
“Since Mapusa is a commercial town, this booking counter was the need of the hour. As booking of trains and Tatkal facilities will be offered at the counter, this counter will be of great help to the residents of Bardez taluka,” said D’Souza.
Senior officer of Post Office Dr S Shivram stated that they will open five more such counters in Goa. “Post office will offer core banking service at Mapusa Post office from May 27,” informed Shivram.
Post Master Sabaji Govekar compered the function. [H]
