Laxmi Prasad, Curtorim Gymkhana score big wins

Laxmi Prasad Sports Club had another fine outing as they demolished YBT by 6-0 margin in the GFA First Division League match played at Duler grounds, here on Wednesday.
An unbeaten Laxmi went into the breather with a 3-0 lead as Dominic Fernandes (2) and Sangam Pednekar scored.

After their seventh round match, Laxmi took their tally to 17 points, while YBT are languishing at the bottom of the league table without any points.
Laxmi  should have forged ahead in the 7th minute, but Piedade Colaco’s superb volley from outside the penalty box sailed over the crosspiece.
However it did not take long for the Mapusa side to take the lead as Lavino Fernandes set up Dominic Fernandes inside the 18-yard box who scored with a neat placement.
A timely clearance by YBT’s Johnson D’Souza denied Sangam Pednekar from doubling the score.
In the 34th minute Dominic Fernandes netted his brace on receiving an intelligent pass from stopper back Stanley D’Silva.
YBT had one good attempt at the rival goal, but Nagesh Naik’s shot hit Laxmi defender Sidharth Shirodkar at the expense of a corner.
Three minutes for the breather and Laxmi scored their third goal, where a stinging left footer by Sachin Chopdekar hit the horizontal bar and the ball travelled to unmarked Sangam Pednekar who slammed the ball into the nets, 3-0.
On crossing over, YBT showed some urgency with Terrance Lobo and Mario Crasto working tirelessly in the midfield to keep their strikers busy upfront.
However, it was some superb goalkeeping by Laxmi keeper Shilton Fernandes, who came to his team’s rescue as he collected Terence’s shot from close range and twice pushed the ball for a corner off Nagesh Naik and Paulwin D’Silva’s stiff grounders.
While YBT did the attacking, Laxmi pumped in three more goals in the 60th, 79th and 89th minute through Sachin Chopdekar who scored off a defensive lapse; Lavino Fernandes with a hot-blooded shot and Piedade Colaco seeing the keeper out of position floated the ball to the far corner of the goal, 6-0.
At Poriat grounds, Curtorim Gymkhana demolished Calangute Association by 4-0 margin in their own den. [NT]
