Loan for youth, medical dole for senior citizens: CM

After bestowing monetary benefits on the girl child and housewives, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has now decided to gain the goodwill of the elderly in the State by stating that Rs 500 will be given to senior citizens every month to defray their medical bills.

Addressing a large number of people at Thane-Sattari ground as part of the concluding function of Jana Sampark Abhiyaan late Thursday evening, Parrikar said the scheme will come into effect from April 1.

Speaking further, he said the government is also working on schemes for youth, where unemployed youth will get loan up to Rs 20 lakh. “The repayment term will be as long as 10 years and 50% of the interest will be borne by the government,” added Parrikar.

“The government may even give loans to youth to upgrade their existing business and melawas will be organised in every taluka to bring awareness among the youth. Brochures of schemes will be printed in Marathi and Konkani, besides English by March 31,” Parrikar informed.

“Only 6,500 applications under Ladli scheme have been received, which means more awareness is required to make the scheme successful,” he said, and appealed to BJP workers to create awareness among the people to avail benefit of the unique scheme.

He also appealed to all the people present to vote for both the BJP candidates in the ensuing Lok Sabha election.

North Goa MP Shripad Naik criticised the functioning of the government at the Centre. “Lots of scams made by the ministers at the Centre were shielded by the Central government. However, the government failed to control the rising inflation,” claimed Naik.

Sarpanchas and panchas of various panchayats in Sattari and BJP workers were present in large numbers. [H]
