Lobo wants coastal garbage treatment plants

Stating that foreign tourists are reluctant to visit Goa due to the garbage menace, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo wants the state government to enact a legislation to ban plastic and to set up coastal garbage treatment plants in the State.
“Foreign tourists have declined considerably and have refused to visit Goa due to garbage menace. The garbage issue has been discussed and deliberated over and over again, but a solution is yet to found to the vexed problem,” said Lobo, while addressing a gathering at Arpora.
“All the previous governments have failed in this initiative and so, I want our BJP government to take up the issue on priority during the second year of its governance.”
“It is time that the State government comes forward with a legislation to ban plastic and also to set up coastal garbage treatment plants in the State,” Lobo added. [H]
