Local tourist drowns off Morjim beach, another saved

A 26-year-old tourist from Chandigarh drowned, while another tourist was saved by lifeguards at Morjim Beach.
According to reports, Nishit Goyal from Chandigarh and Mohit Shukla (27) from Jaipur were swimming near the boating area in Morjim on Thursday when a foreign tourist fishing by the seashore noticed the two tourists in distress and immediately informed the lifeguards.
The lifeguards, observing one of the tourists drifting in the water and struggling, rushed to his aid and secured Shukla and brought him to the shore. As Shukla was having difficulty in breathing, his airway was cleared and was later shifted to Tuyem CHC.
Upon enquiry, it was learnt that there was another tourist who had drifted.
A search was launched which had to be called off due to bad light. However, the search continued on Friday morning and the body was recovered. [H]
