M’rashtra ore export: Cong writes to CEC
Congress has written to the Supreme Court appointed CEC asking whether export of Maharashtra origin ore through Goa is legal or illegal in the wake of the Apex Court’s order banning mining activities, including transportation and export of iron ore from Goa.
“I have asked the CEC whether it is legal or illegal because we don’t want any confrontation with the Supreme Court or CEC,” Congress Legislature Party’s spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco told at a press conference Monday. The letter was written a couple of days ago.
Speaking to Herald, Reginaldo said, “During the (tenure of the) previous government small violation became a major violation. We don’t want it to happen again since that would result in more damages,” he said.
Reginaldo alleged that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is creating complications. “The chief minister in his hurry to help a certain mining company is putting the whole mining sector at risk. Due to complications created by chief minister it may take a long time for legal mining to start in Goa,” he added. [H]
