Maina-Curtorim police file chargesheet in Loutolim murder case
Maina-Curtorim police have filed a chargesheet against murder accused Sontosh Pujari before the South Goa Additional District & Sessions Judge Vincent Fernandes in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old resident of Carvota-Loutolim, Luis Baptista.
The accused, named Pujari, is charged for the murder of Baptista and for destroying evidence. Charges have been framed under section 302 and 201 of IPC.
It was the case of the prosecution that on October 6, 2012, the Maina-Curtorim police was informed by Vincent Baptista, resident of Carvota, that on October 5 night, his nephew Luis was murdered after being assaulted with a sharp weapon causing injuries on the face and other parts of the body.
Maina-Curtorim PI Gururudas Kadam detained Pujari, who was residing in a rented room, on suspicion. During interrogation Pujari confessed to have committed the murder of the deceased. Police also recovered the weapon, a ‘coita’, used to commit the murder. [H]
