Major fire averted at Khariawada

 

The Vasco fire tender saved a property of about 4 lakh and avoided a major fire in the slums of Khariawada, Vasco, after some fishing scrap caught fire in a compound of a house.
 
Dilip Dicholkar, assistant station fire officer, Vasco, said "we received a call that empty fiber tin boxes used to store fish caught fire engulfing some other plastic and metal scrap."
 
The call was received by Vasco fire station at about 2am on Wednesday morning. The fire tenders immediately alerted Goa Shipyard Limited, Mormugao Port Trust, and Zuari asking for assistance. Juze Faria, the owner of the scrap said there were 500 fiber boxes in the open space. The loss is estimated at 1.50 lakh. [TOI]
