Management to tighten security

Expressing “grief over the barbaric act” involving sexual assault on the seven-year-old girl, the school management on Thursday announced extra security measures in the school premises, besides providing medical and other assistance to the victim.
This was decided at a meeting between the school management and PTA in the school premises on Thursday. About 200 parents of all three sections of the school attended the meeting.
Terming the incident as “barbaric act”, a school official said the guilty will be punished. “It is the saddest day in our lives and I share your pain and grief. Let us find out what went wrong and initiate strict action against the culprits,” stated the official.
Stating that instructions have already been given to increase the height of the school compound wall, the official informed that as many as 12 CCTV cameras will be installed at all the main entry and exit points.
“One of the two gates will be closed permanently and the main gate near the higher secondary section will be manned by CISF personnel and two teachers will be deputed to ensure safety of the students,” added the official.
“A core group will also be formed and two teachers, on rotation basis, along with a lady CISF personnel and PTA member will monitor the footage of the CCTV cameras in the control room during the recess,” the official told the parents.
He further informed that the school will sensitize the girl students and will try to impart martial arts for self defence to tackle any untoward situation.
“The management will also intensify day and night patrolling around the school premises,” he said.
The official informed that he has directed other officials to grant the victim’s mother one month paid leave and added that the girl’s medical expenses will be borne by the school management.
“The management will take care of the girl’s school expenses like uniform, books, etc, till she attains 18 years,” the official informed.
He further informed that a fixed deposit account with Rs 5 lakh would be opened in the girl’s name and she can use the amount when she attains 18 years for her higher studies.
The official added that the management is ready to fulfil other rational demands for the child’s welfare and betterment and in the interest of the school. [H]
