Marketing avenues will be created for artisans: Lavu
Goa Handicrafts Corporation Chief Lavu Mamledar said that the Corporation will shoulder the responsibility of creating marketing avenues for products manufactured by the state’s artisans.
He was speaking at the launch of Unnati’s products “Well Being” at the BPS grounds on Thursday. Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was also present.
“The process to create the marketing facilities for the products manufactured by the artisans will begin within the next two months”, he said, adding that the facilities should be in place within the next two years.
Appreciating the hand made products put up for exhibition at the BPS grounds, Mamledar said the corporation is looking out for some companies to manufacture cotton and jute bags as part of efforts to eradicate plastic bags. “The Corporation has chalked out many plans, but it will require huge finance to put them in place. We are trying to overcome the financial problems plaguing the Corporation”, he added.
Usha Sardesai of Unnati said that Fatorda will lead the way for women to become economically independent. “Money is the prime factor for many a crisis in the family. Women should earn for their self respect. I will continue my effort to find out latent talent in each and every women”, she added. [H]
