Metallurgist Majumdar to speak in China, Hong Kong
Well-known Goa-based metallurgist, Mr Amit Majumdar, has been invited to speak on ‘The Indian Iron Ore Conundrum’ at the China Iron Ore Conference which is being held from February 26 – 28 in Beijing.
He will also be speaking at the World Steel Conference which is being held in Hong Kong from March 4 – 6. Issues facing iron ore mining and business are a highly debatable topic not only in India but also across the world.
The China Iron Ore Conference is being organised by Metal Bulletin and the World Steel Conference by CRU. Both Metal Bulletin and CRU are among the world’s leading organisations, based in London, doing research and analysis in the metals sector and organizing conferences worldwide.
Mr Majumdar was invited recently by Tsinghua University and University of Science and Technology, both in Beijing, to speak on India-China cooperation.
Mr Majumdar is a recipient of the British Council award (Colombo Plan) for higher studies in management in the UK and the Advanced Management Programme for top functionaries of the public sector in India at the IIM (A) and has received several national awards. He has contributed research papers to Indian and international journals.
He is a director on the board of Aparant Iron and Steel Plant, a Dempo Group company, of which he was formerly managing director. [NT]
