Milagres down Penha de Franca
Milagres Sports Club came from a goal down to register a 3-1 win over Penha de Franca Sports Club to secure full points, in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match played at Sangolda grounds, on Friday.
After today’s match, Milagres raised their tally to six points from five matches, while Penha de Franca remained on four points from four matches.
Penha de Franca went into the lead in the very 5th minute of play, through a fine individual effort by Shubham Shetgaonkar. Penha had two more chances to further increase their lead, but Francis Fernandes missed two scoring opportunities on entering the danger zone.
Milagres should have equalised a couple of minutes before the hooter, but Al Mafaiz Shaik’s shot was collected by Penha keeper Naveed Almeida.
On crossing ends, Milagres came with renewed ideas and scored their equaliser in the 5th minute through a superb goal by Krishna Chougle, who controlled a free kick by Brian Fernandes and latched on to a scorching right footer which crashed to the far corner of the goal.
Spurred by the equalizer, Milagres netted two more goals through Atish Mirajkar and Al Mafaiz Shaik.
Penha de Franca almost pulled off their second goal, but Fraizer Picardo’s header was brilliantly collected by Milagres keeper Rowell Pinto. [NT]
