Mobor resort staff protests termination of 12 workers

 

Employees of a group of hotels on Thursday held a dharna outside the resort at Mobor-Cavelossim following the termination of 12 workers, including managers by the management.
Prestige Holiday Resorts Pvt Ltd said the company has ceased OPC marketing operations in Goa due to ever-increasing costs, lack of quality control and concerns over behaviour and attitude.
Caetano D’Mello, who was terminated from the post of marketing director, told newsmen that around 150-200 employees will be on the streets if the management goes ahead with its plan to terminate the employees. He said the employees from across the state will knock the doors of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, ministers and MLAs to stop the hotel management from going ahead with its plan.
An employee Narayan Naik said the management has resorted to a divide and rule policy to create a rift amongst the staff.
Meanwhile, in a press release issued by Director Datta Patil, the management said the there was disruption in the business and strike since November 2. “Nevertheless, the Board of Directors had requested the marketing staff to be at work on November 6, but the marketing teams chose not to work, but to continue to strike”, Patil said.
“Notices of cessation of marketing operations in Goa have been sent to all captains and senior managers”, the press release added. [H]
