Molem resident held for assault on brother, sister-in-law
Collem police have booked Punaji Usapkar, a resident of Satpal-Molem in Dharbandora taluka for allegedly outraging the modesty of his sister-in-law and assaulting his brother on Wednesday.
The accused, however, was not arrested until late Saturday night, police told TOI.
Collem PI Jivba Dalvi said that the accused allegedly trespassed into the room of his brother, abused his sister-in-law with foul language, molested her and threatened her with dire consequences while she was alone in the house.Baffled over the sudden attack, the woman shouted for help and her husband ran to her aid. On seeing his brother entering the room, the accused also assaulted and threatened him, police said, adding that during the incident, the 'mangalsutra' worn by the woman was damaged and the accused also destroyed furniture.
The victim later lodged a complaint with Collem police.
The case was booked under Sections 452 (illegal trespass), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 323 (intentionally hurting someone), 504 (abuse), 427 (damage to property) and 506 -II (threatening dire consequences) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). [TOI]
