Mormugao municipal council to seek private funds for Vasco facelift
The Mormugao municipal council has been approaching private firms and corporate houses for sponsorship to beautify Vasco town. Speaking to TOI, MMC chief officer Agnelo Fernandes, said, "The maintenance cost for the beautification project will be borne through sponsorship. This will help us to keep the town green and clean." The MMC recently held a cleanliness drive at the Vaddem beach and collected seven truckloads of garbage from the area. In order to beautify the place and make it a place of relaxation for locals, the MMC is seeking finance from private organizations in Mormugao taluka. Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said, "The road dividers on Swatantra Path were done with government funds, but the entire town needs road dividers, and such other needs like renovation of municipal gardens, etc. Instead of asking government for funds again, as a social responsibility, all organizations will be approached soon." The council will hold a discussion to identify beautification works and a letter of request will be made to the organizations.
