Mould children with human values, says Francis

VALPOI: Students are future of our nation and it is the responsibility of everyone in the education system to encourage students to explore, innovate and develop civic values among them, said the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Francis D’Souza. He called upon the teachers to mould students with the best education and human values.

Mr D’Souza was speaking as the chief guest at the annual day and prize distribution function of Government High School, Advoi. The assistant director, Mr Ramesh Dandye, former Valpoi MLA, Mr Venkatesh Desai, sarpanch, Ms Harsha Kansekar, deputy sarpanch, Ms Suvarnamala Desai, business manager of SESA Goa, Mr Ulhas Kerkar, headmaster, Mr Angdi, PTA chairman, Mr Sitaram Pansekar, Mr Vishwajeet Rane and Mr Bala Desai were present on the dais.

Mr D’Souza further highlighted that education sector has been accorded top priority by the state government and further urged the teaching community to be accountable and pro-active. "The wisdom givers should know that the future of our student lies in their hands and they are the ones who mould the students, giving them proper shape to counter the upcoming difficulties in life," saud Mr D’Souza. He noted that beside teachers, parents, management and the students must make equal efforts to accomplish the task. Mr Dandye also spoke on this occasion.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated five students from the school who excelled at the state and national level in the skit competition. Theater art teacher, Mr Pramod Mahadeshwar was also felicitated for training these students. Mr Angdi presented a brief report of the school while Mr Chandarkant Gawas welcomed the guest and the gathering. Mr Shamba Gawas proposed the vote of thanks.
