Mulgao HS girls excel in judo


 Self-defence technique of judo is gaining wide popularity among girls even in rural parts of Goa.
This is evident from the results of the state level judo tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at indoor stadium, Peddem Mapusa, where in as many as ten girls from rural and remote areas of Assonora, Mulgao, Usap, studying in Govt High School, Mulgao have won gold, silver and bronze medals.
Following students bagged the medals: Shreya Kerkar, Bindiya Shinde and Surekha Varak were the gold medallist. Suchitra Gosavi and Ashwini Gaonkar bagged silver medals while bronze medallist were Prajwala Gaonkar, Prema Gaonkar, Shivali Gaonkar, Harsha Chopdekar, Kamruddin Mohammad and Shamsuddin Mohammad.
Subsequently, three gold medalists -Shreya Kerkar, Bindiya Shinde, Surekha Varak have qualified and proceeded for National Level Judo Tournament in Pune. All these students got the motivation and valuable guidance from Judo expert  and PE teacher, Jaya Ganesh Patil of Govt High School, Mulgao who has identified sports talent from remote and rural areas and trained them.
