New traffic movement, parking for IFFI notified

PANJIM: Traffic Cell has notified a traffic movement and parking plan for Panjim during the 11- day IFFI starting from Tuesday.

For the IFFI inaugural at Football ground, Campal, the road from Kala Academy to Miramar Circle will be closed for general vehicular traffic from 3pm till the ceremony concludes.

The parking for VVIPs and VIPs will be within Kala Academy premises, while vehicles owners holding other passes will have to park at the Sports Authority of Goa ground and Campal parade ground.

Meanwhile, the Inox lane leading to Dayanand Bandodkar Marg from Panjim market will be closed near the Corporation of City of Panjim market complex throughout the festival.

The press note further mentions that vehicles with Invitee Car Pass approaching towards the IFFI venue should start from Miramar and park their vehicles at Campal parade ground.

Whereas, other vehicles coming from Panjim KTC terminus to proceed towards Miramar, will be diverted at the police head quarters to take the road Mahatma Gandhi road via Printing Press to St Inez, Caculo Mall to come out at Hotel Goa International.

For parking on other days of the festival, vehicles with ‘ parking stickers’ will be permitted to park in the INOX parking lot and in the service lane along INOX theatre.

Meanwhile, Overall security has been heightened as over 2000 armed policemen have been deployed at various places while security around Dabolim airport has also been stepped up.

OFFICE TIMINGS: The office timings, for all the government offices and local/ autonomous bodies, public sector undertaking situated within the jurisdiction of City Corporation of Panaji, Taleigao Panchayat, Porvorim shall close at 4 pm on November 20 and 30, on account of opening/ closing ceremonies of IFFI to avoid traffic congestion in Panjim.

The rescheduled timings shall not be applicable to the essential services departments like Water Divisions of Public Works Department and Electricity Department.
