New vehicle registration highest during festival at Ponda

Even the rising inflation does not deter people from purchasing new vehicles, especially during the festive occasions, as Ponda Road Transport Office (RTO) registered 278 new vehicles two days prior to Ganesh Chathurthi.

According to the RTO officers, the number is the highest during festive seasons.

“The rising inflation does not deter people from buying new vehicles especially during the festive occasions. We close new registration by 1 pm, but during festive occasion we extended till 3.30 to 4 pm,” said an officer at the RTO Ponda.

According to data available with RTO Ponda, on September 17, 138 new vehicles including two-wheelers, cars and heavy vehicles were registered, while on September 18, 140 new vehicles have been registered. A car showroom at Ponda has sold about 30 new vehicles.

“The festive occasion coupled with good offers on cars attracted customers to buy cars,” said a sales executive at a car showroom at Curti-Ponda.
Even during the last week from September 10 to 14, RTO Ponda registered 245 new vehicles, including 201 two-wheelers. [H]
