No giving numbers to illegal houses: Borim
The Borim Gram Sabha on Sunday resolved not to issue house numbers to “illegal” constructions coming up on comunidade land in the future.
The villagers brought to the notice of the panchayat that encroachment on comunidade land without any NOCs from concerned departments is in pace and if it continues then there will be no land remaining for the social cause, if any.
The villagers accused the secretary of not providing documents sought under Right to Information Act on time and demanded that action should be taken against him.
Siddhesh Borkar claimed that he was not given RTI documents prior to Gram Sabha, although a month was passed. “Panchayat members and the secretary were afraid that if given, they will be exposed for not taking action against illegal construction,” stated Borkar.
It may be recalled that Utkarsh Prabhu Borkar, a secretary of a temple committee, had raised the issue and explained how industries in residential areas could affect life of the people.
However, villagers’ hue and cry over the issue had forced the panchayat members to take a resolution to issue ‘stop notice’ to a manufacturing industry on December 4, 2012.
Prabhu, during Gram Sabha, claimed that though ‘stop notice’ was issued, work of the industry was still going on.
The Gram Sabha witnessed noisy scenes over the issue, forcing the panchayat to take action against the industry.
Sarpanch Nutan Naik assured the villagers that she will send a proposal to the government asking to setup library in the village. She said she will make available toilet facilities to those anganwadis which doesn’t have basic facilities.
Former sarpanch Thanu Naik suggested some ways to generate revenue, which was praised by the villagers as it was in the interest of the village. Naik also suggested that fees to the local youth should be waived for using panchayat gymnasium. Later, a resolution was passed in this regard. Several issues of illegal constructions and developmental works were also deliberated during the Gram Sabha. [H]
