Though the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) has opened sub-health centres all across the State, doubts are being raised on whether authorities have a mechanism to ensure that these centres function effectively.
When Herald visited the Pomburpa Sub Health Centre located in the panchayat office on Thursday at about 12 noon, there was no staff on duty. The phone rang twice between 12 noon and 12:30 pm but there was no one to answer it.
Some visitors were also forced to go back after waiting for some time.
“The staff on duty at Pomburpa Sub Health Center may have gone to attend their personal work during office hours,” suggested a source.
When contacted, an official at the Aldona Primary Health Center official said they have deputed three staff at the Pomburpa Sub Health Centre and added that their lunch time is between 1 and 2 pm. [H]
