No water for Mapusa for past 10 days

MAPUSA: People of Mapusa are facing water crises for last several months. To add to the problem, for the past 10 days people have not received water. The taps have gone dry with no other option than buying water from private water suppliers.
Though, the PWD is supplying water through tankers in different parts, the supplied water is not enough due to which people are forced to buy private water tanker for their day to day household and commercial use. Not only Mapusa but the Bardez taluka is also facing water crisis especially Mapusa and Porvorim compared to other rural areas. The water shortage problem is quite controllable since most of them are at low lying areas and also have water wells.Residents also informed that from last two days they are receiving water only for 10 minutes a day. “Mapusa is facing water crisis because there is no raw water for treatment as the Tilari Dam is close for maintenance. I have already spoken to Chief Minister about this issue and he has assured to resolve the issue,” said Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza.
